My 2008 New Year's Resolutions

Be The First to Comment - Post a comment

Today is the New Year's eve and in less than 24 hours, we will be walking into the brand new year of 2008. Before walking into the new year, it is always better have a clear picture of our new year's resolutions in our mind or perhaps write it down somewhere, in case we do forget. I choose to write it in my blog, so it will keep me reminded. And here is my 2008 New Year's Resolutions.

1. Spend Money Wisely
or in other words, to save more money. Budget is a crucial tool that will keep me from throwing my money into the drain again. I have a bad habit of spending money on something that I doesn't really need it and end up regret for it. Sometime just because the sales person treated me so nice and I will felt guilty for not buying anything from the sales person. Starting next year, every time when I go out for shopping, I will only buy the items/goods that I really need and that mean I need shopping checklists to avoid me from unwise spending.

2. Generate Multiple Stream of Income (or Pocket Money)
Although I am still a student, but I don't want to be too dependent on my parent's hard earned money. This year, I earned extra money by doing part time job as a Red Bull's promoter. Well, that was the only stream of income for me this year and in year 2008, I am looking for more options. So I decided to become a demonstrator in my University. In the mean time, I can gain precious experience. In the mid year, I am considering of applying for a post as a part time teacher at my mum's school. That's may earn me over thousand Ringgit. Currently, I am extremely interested in stock market investment. I bought several books on stock investment which cost me over hundred Ringgit. But I believe the knowledge that I gain can't be measure with money. Before jumping into stock market, we need to know the basics first. I believe I can make more than what I have spent on the books. Finally, I hope that my Red Bull's boss still needs my service.

3. Improve My Public Speaking
I always having bad times every time I stand in front of people. Maybe I was too anxious and not well prepared for presentation. How am I going to improve it? Again, I will need spend money on books. I have several books of those books with me now and I still need more books to fill up my book shelf. Knowledge is Power! Just now, I was talking about becoming a demonstrator in University and part time teacher during semester break. These will be a landing platform for me to sharpen up my speaking skills and I believe I can do it.

4. Maintain My Exam Results
From the first semester back in 2005 till semester 5 (last semester), I performed well in exams and gained decent results every semester. In the coming semester till the last semester, I will love to see myself keep maintaining the current form of my exam results. Improvement will be better.

I have talked about mine and what are your new year's resolutions?

The Smart Way to Cheat in Exam

Be The First to Comment - Post a comment

To be honest, I used to cheat in exam during my time in secondary school. Just a few times. When I think of it back, I feel really lucky because I never get caught for cheating in exam. Yes, I know I am smart enough not to get caught.

Well, cheating in exam is very risky and is a really bad idea because it doesn't worth it once you get caught. But how if you know a smart (?) way to cheat in exam? If you are bad at memorizing facts for exam, you might want to try this method. Just sit back, watch the video and learn. All you need are a bottle of coke (or any drinking bottle), scanner and printer.

P.S. : Remember, try it at your own risk!

Happy Wedding, Yen Min!

Be The First to Comment - Post a comment

Last weekend, I had the pleasure to attend my senior aka god sister, Cheong Yen Ming and her husband’s wedding ceremony in Ipoh. A day before going to Ipoh, I was at Tanjung Malim (the place where I study my degree). Well, the new semester is expected to start on 3 January next year and I have to cut my holiday shorter to make sure I was there to witness Yen Min’s wedding.

On Saturday 22 December, Hui Yee aka honey and I reached Ipoh around 10 am from Tanjung Malim. Phik Fen reached Ipoh in the afternoon. Three of us and Ngoh were invited to the bride’s wedding dinner at night. Gratefully, we have Ngoh who lived in Ipoh, so we didn’t have to worry about transportation and a place to sleep.

The bride’s wedding dinner took place in a hotel in Ipoh starting at 7 pm. I didn’t meet them for quite some time since Yen Min’s graduation and I have to admit that they were simply gorgeous that night! The dinner was filled with a total of 35 tables and consisted of 8 different dishes. Well, the dishes were quite okay (sort of) and the dinner ended around 11 pm. We didn’t miss the opportunity to snap photos with the bride and the groom. So here you go, the photoshop edited photo. See the bride and the groom?

Here's another photo taken during the bride's wedding dinner.

The next day was the crucial day. After taking breakfast near Ngoh's house, we headed to Yen Min's house and arrived there at 8.30 am. The groom was expected to collect the bride at the bride's house. The process of picking up the bride was not an easy one because friends and sisters would not easily give up the bride. The girls have the door locked to block the groom and the brothers from entering the house. Well, I was with the girls to torture the groom and the brothers. The girls has prepared food and drinks to serve the groom and his friends. Well, the food and drinks were not too tasty, in fact they tasted bad (not really bad)! Haha!!!

The breakfast for the groom and the brothers. Taste good!

This part of tradition was very hilarious. The girls wanted the groom to prove that he is the best choice for the bride. So the girls has asked the groom to recognize the bride's kiss on a piece of paper filled with a score of kisses. The groom didn't get it right at the first attempt and only get it right on the third. Then some singing session, the groom sang a love song for the bride. Haha... not so bad singing. After finished with the tests and dishes, the groom was just one step closer to enter the house. Now, the groom had to ask his brothers to pick up the door key in a pail of icy water only with leg. So cold! Poor guy, he did get his leg frozen up. *laughing*

Soon after entering the house, finally the bride got into the bride's room after paying sufficient amount of toll money ( I mean ang pows ) to the girls. Tea was served to the parents and the oldest living closest relative before the bride and the groom left the bride's house and drove to the groom's house in Kulim, Kedah. Well, we didn't follow them, so we missed the wedding dinner in Kulim.

Here's a few more photos.

In the bride's room

The groom wore the ring into the bride's finger.

Bye! Bye! Both the bride and the groom left for the groom's house.

Finally, my wishes for them, may both the loving copule have a happier life and may their love lasts forever.

How I look differently before and after the plastic surgery? The picture below tells you more.

Let me recall the whole event of the plastic surgery of removing my swelling located near my left eye. I went to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) at Kubang Kerian on 10 December, attending my first appointment. After that, I entered ward on 15 December before underwent the plastic surgery the next day, 16 December. I was supposed to remove the thread on my wound on 21 December but I postponed it to 24 December. After this, I will be attending my second appointment at HUSM on a yet to decide date. Hopefully, I don't have to meet the same rude doctor which I encountered on the first appointment.

Here’s the birthday card. Lovely!

Birthday Card

As for the birthday present, is a handsome and branded shirt, Crocodile. Yes, sure to cost my big bro quite an amount of money. Thanks, big bro!

The photo of me and Big Bro Alan inside the card. What a nostalgia.

Actually, I was thinking of buying a new shirt to wear during class and what do you know, I did get a new shirt without spending a penny. *smile* I guess “The Secret” has taught me something useful – if you want something, you have to ask , believe and you will receive. Well, you must be wondering what am I talking about, so stop wondering and read this book, “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne

By the way, how do I look wearing the new Crocodile branded shirt?

I know I look nice *laughing*

P.S. : To my big bro, Brudership Forever! Thank you for your blog post on my birthday.

Finally, My Swelling Have Gone Forever!

My plastic surgery was successfully took place at HUSM, Kubang Kerian yesterday. My swelling has gone forever and now I am on the right track to recover. I entered ward on 15 December and stayed one night in the ward before undergo the plastic surgery on the second day. I was taken to the surgery room in the afternoon. Within half an hour, a total of 3 swellings have successfully removed. By 3 pm, I was discharged from the ward and reached home around 4.30 pm. That’s my very first experience undergo a surgery. Well, it is not scary to enter the operation room. I didn’t felt scare at all, might be mine was just a minor surgery and didn’t cause any life harm. On 21 December, I will have to go to the nearest clinic to remove my bandage.

Anyway, I hope I will not have the chance to enter the surgery room again because I want to stay healthy and keep myself away from any serious diseases. I hope everyone that I love will stay healthy always!

Here is some of the photos taken during my time in the ward

That's my bed with my mum , my dad is the camera man.

That's me with a nice blue hat, ready to take bath! :p Okay, I can't fool you, I am ready to enter the operation room. So I put on the awful dress!

The surgery was over, see the bandage?

My dad and mum accompanied me during these two days.

P.S. : The surgeon said my scar will lasted for at least 6 moths. So within the 6 months, I will look really really ugly! After 6 months, my scar will be less visible, I hope so. At the mean time, I am considering on wearing a mask on my face. A good idea right?

Flood in Kuala Krai

4 comments - Post a comment

After days of raining cats and dogs in my home town, Kuala Krai, at last the cats and dogs have gone for a nap. I can see the sun finally pop up from the cloud waving at me. Today is a fine day with not even a single drop of rain from the sky, a good day for me to bring along my dad’s digital camera and shoot scores of pictures at the area affected by flood. My dad, my mum, my youngest brother, Kok Kwang and me take a ride to several spots to observe the flood.

Here is the condition of a small river near my house. Now, it has turn into a big size river.

Say hello to my dad

The main entrance to the town. No worry, there is always alternative entrance.

That's me and my youngest brother

Tasik Krai ( Krai Lake )

P.S. : No Gardenia and newspapers for today because the Kuala Krai – Kota Bharu road has been blocked due to flood. Many lorry drivers also have to postpone their journey. So bad!

Plastic Surgery and the Rude Doctor

Be The First to Comment - Post a comment

I have attended the appointment at HUSM yesterday morning. We arrived at HUSM at 9 something in the morning and I thought that when I get to HUSM at 9 am I can straight away get to see the doctor because the appointment time is at 9 am but it was not happen the way I thought of. Well, I have made a blunder! My foolish!

Well, this is my first time to the hospital , so I don’t know how exactly is the procedure of the hospital. My mum and I wasted some time wondering around the hospital and asking people here and there. So I know that I have to first register at the registration counter before headed to the Klinik Surgeri (Surgery Clinic).

By 10 am, I was sitting in front of Klinik Surgeri waiting for the nurse to call my name. After waiting for one and half hour, the nurse called me up. So I went and met the doctor. Without even a smile and greeting, the doctor examine my swellings (well, not exactly doing examination, just glance at my swellings and touch it a bit and done!). The atmosphere looked so different inside the room. The doctor asking me questions in the rude way and without patient. The way how the doctor treated me nearly aroused resentment in me but I told myself to cool down, only a fool will argue with the doctor! After pouring a score of questions on me, the doctor wrote a report about my case. I confirmed with him that I am ready to say good bye to the ugly swellings. So the doctor checked for suitable date to do the operation.

Finally, I have decided the date of my plastic surgery operation, it will be on 16 December! I have to stay in hospital the day before the operation. It has been a long time I have not sleep in hospital. How do I feel for my coming surgery? Nothing to scare and I hope that everyone who cares for me, please don’t worry about me specially my family and also my honey, Hui Yee. I will be fine!

P.S. : My mum and dad will accompany me to enter the ward on 15 December and stay overnight at my auntie’s house. Thanks for yours care, mum and dad. You’re simply the best mum and dad on earth!

Back From Singapore

1 comments - Post a comment

Hi, I have finally reached home earlier this afternoon. What a tiring trip on the way back from Singapore! My family and I took train on the way back to Kuala Krai (that's where I live) yesterday, yes we were supposed to reach our home town by train too, but in the end had to take a 2 hours bus ride from Gua Musang. What's made me tired was that I had to stand all the way from Gua Musang. Why we needed to take bus? Well, tell you later and I promised you that I'm supposed to write about the Singapore trip today but I guess I am not going to make it. Reason? Tired, no mood and bla... bla... bla... Anyway, I will write it after I have completed my plastic surgery. I have an appointment to attend at HUSM, Kubang Kerian tomorrow at 9 am, this is the appointment about the plastic surgery that I am going to undergo in order to remove my damn ugly swellings. So wish me luck, may the surgery go on smoothly. :-)

How do I Spend My Spare Time?

3 comments - Post a comment

What do you actually do if you have a large amount of spare time? In every semester break, I find myself a lot of free time. What am I going to do with it? Well, I don’t know what you guys usually do with your free time. But it’s actually depends on you and how you find the activities you do will bring benefits to you. So how do I find which activities will bring benefits for me? Well, let me tell you what am I up to during my free time – reading books! Yes, I am currently developing my reading habit.

Books are My Best Friends
Reading books is an enjoyable activity and it fills up our brain with all kinds of knowledge. The knowledge is what I seek from the books. If you ask me about what type of books that I love the most, well they are the books on self-improvement and stock investing. Below is the picture of the books in my reading lists. There are a total of 7 books - 4 in English and 3 in Mandarin.

They will accompany me during this semester break

The Books in My Reading List (picture above in order from the top to bottom)
1. How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie
The book was first written and published by Dale Carnegie in 1937. After 70 years, this book is still the best of its kind. I guess most of you knew about this book. In a nutshell. this book teaches you the techniques on how to deal with people and how to win people to your way of thinking. I am highly recommended this book for you.

2. The Secret - Rhonda Byrne
What's so secret about The Secret? Well, in this book, you will learn about the secret in every aspect of your life -- Money, Relationships, Health, Life, Happiness and in every interaction you have in the world. This book contains miraculous stories of The Secret in action and we have twenty-four amazing teachers who contribute towards the content of the book. Again, I am highly recommended this book for you.

3. 爱情课本 - 钟进贺
爱情课本 or The Love's Text Book, is written by a young man from Rawang aka Rawang Boy. Ever heard about the text book about Love? You definitely will not find one in the school's library but it is available in the book store. I bought this in Popular bookstore. Well, this book is targeted to Form 4, 5 students especially the boys. Anyway, it's ok for a 22 years old young man (me!) to read this book. In a nutshell, this book highlights 34 ways that we, boys can apply to 'fish' or tackle the girls. Hey, young man out there, why don't you take out RM 12 from your pocket and purchase this book. It will come in handle later on.

4. 聪明人比你会说话 - 桶口裕一
The title reads as "Clever People Speak Well than You" is written by an author from Japan, also a hot selling book in Japan in 2005. I don't speak Japanese, so I bought the mandarin version of the book. The author highlights a total of 40 type of foolish speaking that we must get rid of or avoid. People judge us from the way how we speak and express ideas. I am sure that we don't want to give bad impression to others people, so how? Solution - change your way of speaking!

5. 十分自信 , 十分成功 (Hundred Percent Successful) - 林庆昭
How to turn self confident into success? Is there any relationship between self confident and becoming successful? This book tell you a lot of short stories which will grow and explode your self confident and turn it into success.

6. I Love Stocks : Your Guide to Profitable Trading - Pauline Yong
Lately, I become very interested in making money from stock investment. So I bought this book. Many people "jump" into stock market without first acquire the sufficient knowledge about the market. In the end, most of them didn't make it in the stock market and blame it on bad luck. If you think luck is what investors need in stock investment, you are totally wrong!!! What you really need is knowledge. In this book, we will learn the basics about stock market (Bursa Malaysia), fundamental analysis, technical analysis, market analysis and stock trading strategies. This book also include score of real life examples which give a clearer picture about stock investment. Stock investing may sounds difficult but with the help of this book, I guess it will not be difficult after all. If you are serious about stock investing, please consider another book, "Stock Investing for Dummies".

7. Think and Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill
Who does not know about this book which has over 100 million copies sold worldwide. This book is the right book for people who are seeking financial freedom (me included!). The essence of the book is Napoleon Hill's famous statement: "Everything your mind can conceive, you can achieve" The title says the same, in different words: Think and Grow Rich. This book is the result of over 20 years of study and research on over 500 of America's most successful business men in the start of this century.

With all these books accompany me during this semester break, I will have no reason to feel bored.

Welcome December, Good Bye November

3 comments - Post a comment

Yesterday was November 30 and today is December the first. December is going to be a long long month for me before going back to campus. Well, not exactly a long month because I already have in my mind about what to do to make this month run faster. So December is not going to be bored after all. Here, I am going to highlight some interesting events for this month.

1. Singapore Trip

Hey, this will be my first trip to Singapore. I am feeling so excited about it. So do I ever tell you that my younger brother is currently studying in National University of Singapore (NUS). Yes, my whole family is going to visit my brother and at the same time, to have fun in Singapore. According to schedule, we are going by train on 6 December at night and arrive in Singapore on the second day in the morning. The 2 days 1 night trip is planned by my brother. The trip may seem a little too short but it is enough to cost my dad more than half of his salary! Anyway, I hope that the trip is going to be an enjoyable trip. Singapore, here I come!!!

The famous Singapore Merlion

2. Plastic Surgery

Well, I am going to undergo a plastic surgery on 10 December at HUSM, Kubang Kerian. Most of my friends don’t know about this because I keep this as a secret. Only my family, my honey and close friends of mine know about this. Some of you may have noticed swellings near my left eye. The swellings are not painful and increases in size, so I decided to remove the swellings because it makes me look ugly! I never undergo any surgery in my whole life and this will be my first surgery. Although I am a little scared, but to look handsome, I must take the risk! So, wish me good luck!

See the swellings? Pretty ugly right?

3. My Birthday

I will be celebrating my birthday on 19 December ( Try to remember it! ). So in my birthday, I will be expecting birthday cake, birthday cards and birthday presents. I will be at home on my birthday, so my family will celebrate it with me and as for my honey, she will celebrate with me a few days later. Talking about birthday present, Ngoh is the first person to hand up birthday present for me. Thank you so much, Ngoh.

4. Attend Wedding

Who’s getting married? Well, my senior aka my god sister, Chong Yen Ming is getting married on 22 December in Ipoh, so four of us, me, my honey, Ngoh and Phik Fen will be joining her wedding. So let us wish the two loving couple a happier life and may their love lasts forever.
